Cranky’s Corner Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 6, 2025

We respect your privacy almost as much as we respect a good cup of coffee. This page explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we (don’t) share it. If you’re here reading this, you probably care—and we appreciate that.

1. Who We Are

Our website lives at https://crankyscorner.net. It’s run by a cranky dad with a passion for travel, gear, and keeping things real.

2. Comments

When you leave a comment, we collect what you type, plus your IP address and browser info to help fight spam. If you use Gravatar, your profile pic might show up next to your comment. Their privacy policy is here.

3. Media

If you upload images, skip the embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Otherwise, savvy visitors could extract your location from those files. We’re not trying to be creepy—just honest.

4. Cookies

Leave a comment and opt-in to save your name, email, and website in cookies. It’s for convenience, not tracking. These cookies last one year, which is longer than most toddler attention spans.

5. Embedded Content

Some posts may include embedded stuff (videos, articles, etc.) from other sites. Those sites may track you like you’re one of their own. We don’t control them, so check their policies if you’re curious.

6. Data Sharing

We don’t sell or share your data with third parties. Period.

7. Data Retention

Comments and their metadata stick around indefinitely so we can auto-approve follow-ups. If you register (not required), your profile info is stored and editable—except your username. Admins can see and edit it too.

8. Your Rights

You can request a copy of your personal data or ask us to delete it. We’ll honor that unless we’re legally required to keep something (like for security or admin reasons).

9. Spam Detection

Comments may be screened through automated spam filters. It’s not personal—it’s just digital hygiene.

10. MailPoet Newsletter & Emails

If you subscribe, log in, or buy something, we may send you emails. Only the ones you signed up for or that relate to your activity. We log your IP when you sign up to prevent abuse.

We use MailPoet to send emails and track opens/clicks to improve content. No other personal info is tracked outside this site—just your email address.
